FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What people ask us before they call — about barns, barndominiums, framing, remodeling, quotes and where we work.
Working With Us
Fill out the form, or call or text (615) 326-5991. Tell us what you want to build and where. We'll follow up within 24–48 hours, come walk the site, and put a written quote in your hands. No trip fee.
The quote spells out the size, the materials and exactly what's included, and that's what you pay. If you change the scope, or we open a wall and find something nobody could have seen, we stop and talk to you before anything changes — you'll never find it on the invoice first.
Yes. Blue Collar Built is licensed and insured. Ask and we'll send you the paperwork with your quote.
We run a local crew — no outsourcing. The people who quote the job are the people who build it. Where a job needs a specialty trade, we coordinate it and stay responsible for the result; one call still handles it all.
It depends on what it is, the site and the weather. A post-frame shell is one of the fastest buildings there is to put up — typically weeks, not months, once materials are on site. A kitchen or bathroom is measured in weeks; a barndominium or whole-home renovation runs in phases over a longer stretch. You'll get a real schedule with your quote, and we'll tell you the moment something moves it.
Most contractors ghost you for the small stuff. We treat every job — big or small — with the same care. Tell us what you need and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a fit and when we can get to it.
Barns & Barndominiums
A building carried on heavy posts set into the ground or on brackets above grade, instead of on a continuous foundation. Trusses span post to post, purlins and girts tie it together, and metal roofing and siding close it in. It's what most people mean by "pole barn," and it's the majority of what we build. More on our post-frame barn page.
No. The posts go in first and the building goes up over bare ground or a gravel pad. You can pour a slab inside later, pour part of it, or keep a gravel floor for equipment and hay. We'll set the building so a future slab works.
Yes. If you've bought a kit from a metal building supplier, we can set the posts, fly the trusses and dry it in for you.
A barndominium is a barn-style shell — post-frame or stick-framed, with a metal roof and siding — finished out as living space, often with a shop under the same roof. We build the shell and full metal envelope, and we can carry the interior framing and finish carpentry as far as you want, or hand a dry shell to you and your subs. See our barndominium page.
Framing, Remodeling & Where We Work
Yes — labor-only or furnish-and-install. Barndominium shells, roof and truss packages, additions. You supply the plans, we supply a crew that's on site when we said we'd be. See framing.
Usually. For a kitchen or bath we contain the dust, keep a path through the house and keep water and power on outside of short, planned shut-offs. For a whole-home renovation we'll talk through what's realistic before you decide. See remodeling & additions.
We're based in Dickson, Tennessee and work across Middle Tennessee — Dickson, Charlotte, White Bluff, Burns, Bon Aqua, Centerville, Columbia and Franklin most often — and further for the right project. See the full service area.
No. Honest quotes, no trip-fee surprises. We'd rather see the site and give you a real number than guess over the phone.
